Top 30 Osaka Expo 2025 Pavilions Our Experts Swear By

With 188 pavilions across the lush and futuristic grounds of Yumeshima Island, navigating the Osaka EXPO 2025 can feel overwhelming—but it doesn’t have to be.
We recommend planning as much as possible, but to make your Expo visit better, we’ve made a curated selection directly from our on-site experience. From immersive country showcases to cutting-edge corporate installations and themed Signature spaces, here’s your curated guide to the pavilions you shouldn’t miss.
Types of Pavilions at EXPO 2025
EXPO 2025 is divided into three primary types of pavilions:
Signature Pavilions
There are 8 Signature pavilions in total. They are curated experiences led by top Japanese producers and creators. These combine art, science, philosophy, and technology to explore the Expo’s core theme: "Designing Future Society for Our Lives." They often require lottery-based access due to their exclusive programmes.
Private or Company Pavilions
There are 28 in total - 13 hosted by private sectors and 15 hosted by international organizations and the Japanese government. They showcase Japan’s most innovative companies and global brands, offering everything from futuristic tech demonstrations to sustainability labs and family-friendly attractions. While some require advance or same-day registration, many are walk-in friendly.
Country Pavilions
There are 152 country Pavilions. They feature participating nations from around the world. These vary in scale and concept—from architectural marvels to interactive storytelling spaces. Most allow walk-in visits, though some require registration and popular ones can have queues.
Entry Requirements for each Pavilion Explained
For each Pavilion we added the entry method. See below for the full explanation.
Free admission: No entry restriction.
Free admission area available: You can visit a part of the Pavilion without reservation.
First come: You can walk-in freely, but they have a limited number of visitors allowed. Double check at entrance of each pavilion.
Advance reservation: You can enter only via 3 lottery reservation rounds: 2-3 months prior, 1 month to 1 week prior, and then 3 to 1 days before your visit.
Reservation: It includes On-site reservation in addition to the Advance reservation options.
1. Better Co-Being Pavilion
Better Co-Being, one of our favourite Signature Pavilions, is an open-air space by SANAA that blends nature and tech, inviting visitors to reflect on shared living and sustainability through an interactive experience guided by a mysterious “echorb.” Set in the Forest of Tranquillity, its tree-like structure with no walls or roof symbolizes a future of connection, co-existence, and circular thinking.

2. Earth Mart Pavilion
Earth Mart is a must-see Signature Pavilion for food lovers and sustainability fans, offering a fun, sensory journey through global food culture, innovation, and the hidden stories behind every meal. Entry is by lottery, so don’t miss your chance to experience it.

3. Playground of Life (Jellyfish Pavilion)
Perfect for a playful visit, the Signature Pavilion Playground of Life: Jellyfish Pavilion, produced by Sachiko Nakajima, brings the magic of jellyfish to life through flowing, play-driven installations—symbolizing creativity and the wonder of living organisms—with a giant working sundial by Seiko as a central feature.

4. Dialogue Theatre
The Dialogue Theatre – Sign of Life invites visitors into a serene space inside two restored school buildings, where daily questions spark live, unscripted conversations between strangers. With short films by Naomi Kawase and a peaceful garden setting, this pavilion inspires empathy, reflection, and meaningful dialogue about our shared human experience.

5. Future of Life Pavilion
Led by roboticist Hiroshi Ishiguro, this Signature Pavilion offers a speculative journey into a world shaped by technological co-evolution. Visitors journey through immersive zones—including a virtual experience where they shape life in 2075—and reflect on the future of consciousness, AI, and our shared potential.

6. Dynamic Equilibrium of Life Pavilion
This pavilion explores the ever-shifting balance that defines living systems. At its heart is Clathra—a stunning installation of 320,000 flickering lights that visualizes 3.8 billion years of life’s evolution, inviting visitors to reflect on the beauty of change, connection, and renewal.

7. Live Earth Journey Pavilion
Produced by animation director Shoji Kawamori, this pavilion uses cutting-edge technologies like XR theatre to showcase the "dynamism of life." Visitors can experience synchronized images, music, and vibrations in a multi-sensory journey.

8. null² Pavilion
Named after the concept of "null" in computing and inspired by the Buddhist idea that “form is emptiness,” this immersive pavilion—designed by media artist Yoichi Ochiai and NOIZ Architects—blurs the line between virtual and physical reality. With AI-generated avatars, interactive reflections and responsive design, it explores identity, technology, and co-creation in a surreal, futuristic environment.

9. Gundam Next Future Pavilion
A must for anime fans, the GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE Pavilion lets you step into a futuristic spaceport and journey to “Star Jaburo,” where kids and adults can explore life in space through Gundam-inspired tech, immersive displays, and a towering full-scale RX-78F00/E statue made from the legendary Yokohama Gundam.

10. NTT Pavilion
This pavilion presents a future where distance dissolves, and spaces unite. Utilizing “IOWN”, a next-generation communication infrastructure, it explores how future networks can reshape connection and perception—all within a sustainable, interactive space.

12. Cartier Women’s Pavilion
Designed by architect Yuko Nagayama, this pavilion celebrates women's roles in society and promotes sustainability with the theme “When women thrive, humanity thrives.” It features immersive artistic experiences curated by Es Devlin, highlighting themes of empowerment and environmental responsibility. Woman-focused events are also held frequently.

13. Japan Pavilion
Designed by Nikken Sekkei and Nendo, the Japan Pavilion is a poetic fusion of tradition and innovation, built from concentric rings of Japanese cedar to symbolize life’s cycles. Inside, visitors journey through immersive zones—Plant, Farm, and Factory—that explore sustainability, technology, and Japan’s vision for society beyond 2025. As the host country’s flagship pavilion, it’s a must-see centerpiece of Expo 2025.

14. France Pavilion
Designed by Coldefy and Carlo Ratti Associati, this pavilion guides visitors through immersive French landscapes. Exploring themes of love and connection, it features sculptures by iconic artist Auguste Rodin and brands like Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Celine, highlighting French creativity, craftsmanship, and sustainability.

15. Germany Pavilion
The Wa! Germany Pavilion, designed by LAVA Architects, showcases Germany’s vision for a circular future through seven wooden cylinders with green roofs and interactive exhibits on sustainable innovation. Visitors are guided by Koyori, a charming AI mascot who makes learning about biodegradable materials, recycling tech, and eco-design both fun and engaging for all ages.

16. Portugal Pavilion
Designed by Kengo Kuma, the Portugal Pavilion—Ocean, The Blue Dialogue—uses flowing ropes, recycled fishing nets, and a wave-like roof to evoke Portugal’s deep maritime heritage. Through immersive projections and storytelling, it explores ocean sustainability, cultural ties with Japan, and a shared vision for a resilient, blue future.

17. Hungary Pavilion
Titled One World, One Soul, the Hungary Pavilion invites visitors into a timber structure inspired by traditional Hungarian and Japanese design. Inside, a dome-shaped theatre immerses guests in live folk music and starry visuals, celebrating cultural roots, nature, and the unifying power of sound in building a more harmonious future.

This pavilion showcases China's deep-rooted culture, and futuristic green development efforts. Its design is based on ancient bamboo calligraphy scroll and features three zones—focusing on harmony with nature, sustainability, and vitality—from AI-powered Sun Wukong and humanoid robots to lunar soil samples and classical Chinese poetry.

20. Brazil Pavilion
Designed by Studio MK27 and Magnetoscópio, the Brazil Pavilion takes visitors on a poetic, sensory journey through Brazil’s natural and cultural richness. Under a floating mesh canopy, five zones explore biodiversity, crisis, and renewal through sound, art, and agroforestry innovation—highlighting Brazil’s connection to nature and commitment to sustainability.

21. Italy Pavilion and The Holy See
Designed by MCA - Mario Cucinella Architects, the Italy Pavilion embodies the concept of the Renaissance Ideal City and showcases Italian creativity through live performances, iconic artworks, and spaces like a piazza, portico, and garden—all under the theme “Art Regenerates Life.” At its heart there are masterpieces from artists like Tintoretto and Caravaggio, making it a true gallery of wonders, and it also features a rooftop hanging garden—the largest at the Expo.

22. Netherlands Pavilion
Titled “Common Ground: Creating a New Dawn Together,” the Netherlands Pavilion features a fully circular design wrapped in wooden slats and centered around a glowing 11-meter “man-made sun” powered by water-based renewables. Visitors receive a glowing orb device that guides them through interactive exhibits on clean energy solutions – culminating in a 360° AI film and a co-created digital artwork symbolizing a sustainable future.

23. Nordic Pavilion
The Nordic Pavilion, representing Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, is a 1,200 m² wooden structure designed by Michele De Lucchi and AMDL Circle. It embodies Nordic values of trust, sustainability, and innovation, featuring exhibition areas, a rooftop with a restaurant and Nordic garden, and spaces for cultural exchange.

24. Austria Pavilion
Named “Composing the Future,” the Austria Pavilion features a spiral wooden sculpture symbolizing a musical score. Visitors can engage with interactive exhibits that blend Austria's musical heritage with modern technology, including AI-composed music and remote piano performances.

25. Spain Pavilion
Inspired by the Kuroshio Current, the Spain Pavilion's design reflects the ocean's influence on climate and culture. The pavilion features a grand staircase leading to exhibition spaces that explore marine life, blue economies, and the historical connections between Spain and Japan.

26. United Kingdom Pavilion
Designed by WOO Architects, the UK Pavilion showcases British innovation and creativity. Its modular, perforated aluminium façade reflects the UK's industrial heritage, while the interior offers immersive storytelling experiences highlighting the nation's contributions to global progress.

27. United States Pavilion
Under the theme “Imagine What We Can Create Together,” the USA Pavilion features two triangular buildings and a suspended cube. Inside, visitors experience immersive exhibits on American leadership in technology, space exploration, education, culture, and entrepreneurship.

28. EXPO Hall Shining Hat Pavilion
Designed by Toyo Ito, this dome-like space dazzles visitors with its unique architectural shape and golden, shimmering roof. It’s built to host key events such as the opening and closing ceremony of the Expo. Located near the Japan Pavilion, it has a projection mapping event twice a day at 19:30 and 20:10.

29. Yoshimoto Pavilion Waraii Miraii
30. Commons Pavilion
There are 6 Commons Pavilions (A, B, C, D, E and F). Commons E is used as an exhibition and seminar room. The rest of them hosts many countries’ stands and has stages for pop-up performances. Popular among international visitors and includes special stamp-collecting points.
