Top 30 Osaka Expo 2025 Pavilions Our Experts Swear By

With 188 pavilions across the lush and futuristic grounds of Yumeshima Island, navigating the Osaka EXPO 2025 can feel overwhelming—but it doesn’t have to be. We recommend planning as much as possible but to make your life better we’ve made a curated selection directly from our on-site experience, guided by Content Manager Julianna Molnar, who spent a full week exploring every corner of the event. From immersive country showcases to cutting-edge corporate installations and themed Signature spaces, here’s your curated guide to the pavilions you shouldn’t miss.

Types of Pavilions at EXPO 2025 

EXPO 2025 is divided into three primary types of pavilions: 

Signature Pavilions 

There 8 Signature pavilions in total. They are curated experiences led by top Japanese producers and creators. These combine art, science, philosophy, and technology to explore the Expo’s core theme: "Designing Future Society for Our Lives." They often require lottery-based access due to their high popularity. 

Private or Company Pavilions 

They are 28 in total- 13 hosted by private sectors and 15 hosted by organizations and the Japanese government. They showcase Japan’s most innovative companies and global brands, offering everything from futuristic tech demonstrations to sustainability labs and family-friendly attractions. Many require advance or same-day registration. 

Country Pavilions 

There are 152 country Pavilions. They feature participating nations from around the world. These vary in scale and concept—from architectural marvels to interactive storytelling spaces. Most allow walk-in visits, though some popular ones can have queues. 

Entry Requirements for each Pavilion Explained 

For each Pavilion we added the entry method. See below the full explanation. 

Free admission: No entry restriction 

Free admission area available: You can visit a part of the Pavilion without reservation. 

First come: You can walk-in freely, but they have a limited number of visitors allowed. Double check at entrance of each pavilion. 

Advance reservation: You can enter only via lottery reservation either: 2-3 months/1 month/1 week/3 days before prior. 

Reservation: It includes On-site reservation in addition to the Advance reservation options. 

1. Better Co-Being Pavilion

If you love Architecture this is for you. It explores a world where well-being is central. Designed by SANAA, this Signature Pavilion is located near the forest of the EXPO. It offers a calming yet immersive experience that contemplates how people can live better—together. Think nature, health, and human connection in a beautifully designed space.

2. Earth Mart Pavilion

A treat for food and sustainability lovers. This Signature Pavilion delves into the future of food systems and global agriculture, wrapping important questions in visually rich and multi-sensory experiences. It’s both delicious and thought-provoking.

3. Playground of Life (Jellyfish Pavilion)

Perfect for families and young explorers, this Signature Pavilion blends play with science. Inspired by jellyfish and other forms of marine life, it offers colourful, interactive installations that explore life’s diversity.

4. Dialogue Theatre

This Signature Pavilion invites visitors into a space of shared storytelling. Through multimedia narratives and participatory experiences, it stimulates meaningful conversation around human experiences and the future.

5. Future of Life Pavilion

Led by roboticist Hiroshi Ishiguro, this Signature Pavilion offers a speculative journey into a world shaped by technological co-evolution. Visitors can experience a virtual space where they become mayors of future towns, creating unique futures for 2075.

6. Dynamic Equilibrium of Life Pavilion

This pavilion immerses visitors in the concept of life's dynamic balance. Its centrepiece, "Clathra," is a three-dimensional installation formed of 320,000 LED lights, representing the flickering of life in the process of morphogenesis.

7. Live Earth Journey Pavilion

Produced by animation director Shoji Kawamori, this pavilion uses cutting-edge technologies like XR theatre to showcase the "dynamism of life." Visitors can experience synchronized images, music, and vibrations in a multi-sensory journey.

8. Gundam Next Future Pavilion

Step into a world where anime meets robotics. Bandai Namco’s life-sized Gundam Pavilion is a must for fans and families alike. Interactive zones, eye-popping design, and cutting-edge tech make this an unforgettable stop.

9. null² Pavilion

Named after the concept of "null" in computing and inspired by the Buddhist idea that “form is emptiness,” this immersive pavilion—designed by media artist Yoichi Ochiai and NOIZ Architects—blurs the line between virtual and physical reality.

10. NTT Pavilion

This pavilion presents a future where distance dissolves, and spaces unite. Utilizing next-generation communication infrastructure, it offers an immersive experience where time and space intertwine, allowing visitors to feel presence beyond physical boundaries.

11. Sumitomo Pavilion

Emphasizing harmony between people and nature, this pavilion offers interactive forest experiences. Visitors can engage in tree-planting activities and explore stories of life, reflecting Sumitomo's 400-year history of treasuring forests.

12. Cartier Women’s Pavilion

Designed by architect Yuko Nagayama, this pavilion celebrates women's roles in society and promotes sustainability. It features immersive artistic experiences curated by Es Devlin, highlighting themes of empowerment and environmental responsibility.

A poetic blend of tradition and innovation. Created by Nikken Sekkei and Nendo, this immersive space reflects Japan’s societal vision beyond 2025. A must-see since it is the flag country leading the EXPO Osaka 2025.

Designed by CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati, this architecture-forward space explores how tech and sustainability improve daily life. Interactive exhibits foster reflection and participation.

This pavilion showcases China's traditional ecological wisdom and modern green development efforts. Its design is based on ancient bamboo slips, incorporating cultural elements and highlighting China's vision for global sustainability.

The Brazil Pavilion offers a sensory experience through its exhibition space divided into five acts. It emphasizes the preservation of nature and diversity, showcasing Brazil's ecosystems and cultural wealth.

21. Italy Pavilion

Designed by Mario Cucinella Architects, the Italy Pavilion embodies the concept of the “Ideal City,” blending sustainability, innovation, and cultural heritage. The pavilion offers an immersive journey through Italian identity, featuring a rooftop hanging garden—the largest at the Expo—and spaces dedicated to art, science, and cuisine.

22. Netherlands Pavilion

Titled “Common Ground,” the Netherlands Pavilion showcases a fully circular design, emphasizing sustainability and innovation. A striking 11-meter white sphere symbolizes renewable energy and houses a 360-degree screen. Visitors receive a glowing orb device that guides them through interactive exhibits on clean energy solutions.

Netherlands Pavilion

23. Nordic Pavilion

The Nordic Pavilion, representing Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, is a 1,200 m² wooden structure designed by AMDL Circle. It embodies Nordic values of trust, sustainability, and innovation, featuring exhibition areas, a rooftop café, and spaces for cultural exchange.

24. Austria Pavilion

Named “Composing the Future,” the Austria Pavilion features a spiral wooden sculpture symbolizing a musical score. Visitors can engage with interactive exhibits that blend Austria's musical heritage with modern technology, including AI-composed music and remote piano performances.

25. Spain Pavilion

Inspired by the Kuroshio Current, the Spain Pavilion's design reflects the ocean's influence on climate and culture. The pavilion features a grand staircase leading to exhibition spaces that explore marine life, blue economies, and the historical connections between Spain and Japan.

26. United Kingdom Pavilion

Designed by WOO Architects, the UK Pavilion showcases British innovation and creativity. Its modular, perforated aluminium façade reflects the UK's industrial heritage, while the interior offers immersive storytelling experiences highlighting the nation's contributions to global progress.

27. United States Pavilion

Under the theme “Imagine What We Can Create Together,” the USA Pavilion features two triangular buildings and a suspended cube. Inside, visitors experience immersive exhibits on American leadership in technology, space exploration, education, culture, and entrepreneurship.

28. EXPO Hall Shining Hat Pavilion

Designed by Toyo Ito, this dome-like space dazzles visitors with its unique architectural shape and use of natural light. A hidden gem near the Japan Pavilion.

29. Yoshimoto Pavilion Waraii Miraii

A cheerful space geared toward families, this pavilion offers fun, laughter, and light-hearted exploration of future themes.

30. Commons Pavilion

There are 5 Commons Pavilions (A,B,C,D,F). The letter E is not currently in used. Each of them hosts many countries. Popular among international visitors, this space focuses on shared human values and how we might redesign systems and spaces for collective well-being.

Since it’s opening on the 13th of April, the EXPO 2025 Osaka the interest has grown massively and the flights and accommodations are getting fully booked until mid- October when the EXPO will end. So hurry up and include the EXPO 2025 Osaka in your tour to Japan.
