Accessibility Statement

Introduction

At Japanspecialist, we are dedicated to making our platform and services accessible to everyone - regardless of technology, ability, or disability. Our goal is to create a digital environment that is inclusive, intuitive, and welcoming for all users.

We are actively testing our website to ensure it meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA standards. This accessibility statement applies to https://japanspecialist.com and all associated subdomains.

How accessible is this website?

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below. We plan to fix the following known issues as part of upcoming releases:

1. Carousels – Accessibility Issues

Our carousels currently do not fully follow ARIA best practices. Issues include non-localized controls, missing or unclear labels, and control elements placed after the rotating content. Additionally, play/pause functionality is not available.

2. Video Captions

Some videos do not yet include captions. We are actively working on adding captions to improve accessibility.

3. Ticket Selector – Button Labelling

Some buttons in the ticket selector (e.g., the minus button) are not properly announced by screen readers due to missing or unclear labels.

4. Buttons and Links – Meaningful Descriptions

Certain buttons and links across the site lack meaningful or descriptive labels, which can make navigation difficult for screen reader users. We are working to ensure all interactive elements have clear and contextual descriptions.

5. Dialogs – Accessible Naming

Some ARIA dialogs do not have accessible names, which may prevent screen readers from identifying their purpose.

6. Heading Hierarchy

The heading structure in the site footer does not follow a correct hierarchy, which can hinder screen reader navigation.

7. External Links Opening Without Warning

Some external links open in a new window or tab without notifying users in advance.

8. Focus Indicator Visibility

In some cases, the focus indicator may be partially cut off, affecting visibility for keyboard users.
