Overview
Tokyo in a day: shrine serenity, bay views, old-town charm, and Skytree panoramas.
Walk the forested approach to Meiji Shrine, then cross to the Imperial Palace Plaza for classic views of Nijubashi Bridge and stone ramparts. Glide over Rainbow Bridge to Odaiba for waterfront free time before a generous buffet lunch.
In the afternoon, step into old Edo at Asakusa’s Senso-ji and browse the Nakamise shopping street. Conclude high above the city at Tokyo Skytree’s Tembo Deck for a 360° skyline. With expert guidance, thoughtful timing, and no logistics to juggle, this panoramic route delivers Tokyo’s spirit – traditional, modern, and beautifully in between.
Suggested itinerary
Arrive at the bus boarding area near Shinjuku Station East Exit, and depart 10 minutes later. Your guide reviews the schedule, shares practical tips, and helps you settle into your seat for a comfortable day.
Roll past Shinjuku’s glass-and-steel canyons – an elegant snapshot of Tokyo’s vertical business district – en route to the morning’s first sanctuary.
As the first stop of the day, enter a whisper-quiet cedar forest and follow the broad gravel path to Meiji Jingu (Meiji Shrine). Pause at the cleansing basin, admire the cypress-built worship hall, and learn how weddings, prayers, and seasonal festivals shape life at Tokyo’s most revered Shinto shrine. Your guide provides context, then allows time to explore at your own pace.
Travel across the city by bus, and arrive to Tokyo Imperial Palace. Walk the open plaza where black pine silhouettes meet water-filled moats and stone ramparts. Frame the graceful Nijubashi Bridge and hear how Edo Castle became the modern Imperial residence. It’s a dignified counterpoint to the bustle beyond the walls.
Next up, sweep over the Tokyo Bay on Rainbow Bridge with vistas of Tokyo Tower, high-rise clusters, and container ships threading the harbour – Tokyo’s maritime heart in motion.
At Odaiba Island, enjoy waterfront promenades and photo spots with the Rainbow Bridge and a petite Statue of Liberty replica as a backdrop. Browse sleek malls or simply breathe the sea air along the boardwalk before regrouping.
After exploring Odaiba, hop back on the bus, and arrive to your lunch destination. Savour a wide selection of Japanese and Western dishes at All Day Dining Grande Aile. From salads and hot entrées to desserts, there is ample choice to refuel comfortably before the afternoon program.
Please note: as this is a buffet, specific vegetarian requests cannot be accommodated.
After lunch, continue Tokyo’s exploration at Asakusa: pass under Kaminarimon’s giant red lantern and follow Nakamise’s lively arcade of fans, tenugui, and warm street snacks. The air blends incense with soy and roasted tea as Tokyo Skytree peeks down side alleys.
Arriving to Senso-ji Temple, clean your hands at the basin, breathe the incense, and admire the five-storied pagoda. Try an omikuji fortune, then slip into a quieter lane for a photo or a thoughtful souvenir.
The next stop, Tokyo Skytree, will elevate your Tokyo experience even further.
Ascend to the observatory for a 360° panorama: the Sumida River’s curves, the grid of uptown neighbourhoods, and, on clear days, the distant line of mountains – sometimes even Mt. Fuji. It’s a crisp, elevated finale that gathers the day’s geography into one sweeping view. The higher Tembo Galleria (450 m) is optional and payable on site.
On your return route, glimpse Kabukiza’s traditional rooflines and Ginza’s polished avenues – heritage and haute design side by side.
The bus will disembark near Tokyo Station, from where you can continue your Tokyo adventures.
