About me
My fascination about Japan started early on in my childhood with a father actively promoting the sport Judo as a “Sensei”. As for me, I grew up with all at that time latest gaming console “the evolution of the Nintendo” and Japanese TV series such as “Captain Tsubasa”. It was that astonishment of a country introducing unprecedented technology coupled with perfection, that I added it in my teenage years to my bucket list of travel destinations.
My interest became a reality when I first travelled to Japan visiting the most common must-see tourist attractions on the “Golden Route” Tokyo-Kyoto-Hiroshima-Osaka”, and yes you must see them the first time travelling to Japan. But then, my curiosity to learn so much more about the history, its unique culture and language while spending time in an Izakaya or tasting Sake as well as local Ramen beyond the obvious choices.
I returned for many more trips to Japan from experiencing local farming life near Niigata, neon lights in Tokio, hiking trails near Fujisan to a beach holiday in Okinawa. My love for Japan as a country also translated into my personal life marrying a Japanese and spending over 3 years living in the Kansai and Greater Tokyo Area.
However, my favourite place in Japan is Kyoto with all the temples, the Matcha Tea Houses and much more, so that I even decided to do my Graduate School at the University of Doshisha. Now, I’m thrilled and looking forward to hearing your interests about Japan to add it to your bucked list when planning a trip to Japan to make it your dream destination too.
