About me
I am originally from Australia and first moved to Japan in 2012 to attend Akita University as an exchange student. Akita is an agricultural area, responsible for some of Japan’s best rice and sake, which is where I started to fall in love with Japanese food and the hospitality it brings with it.
I started travelling as a student, backpacking across Kyushu, homestays in Hokuriku, and snowboarding at every ski resort I could find. I’ve worked from Hokkaido to Okinawa, and travelled to almost every prefecture in Japan. I love reading about Japanese folklore and traditional crafts, so I always try to incorporate some element of history in the tours I design.
My favourite area to send first time visitors is Hokuriku. Kanazawa, Yamanaka Onsen, and Fukui prefecture are some of my favourite destinations to spice up a standard highlights itinerary. I also love when our guests trust me to send them to Tohoku. Anywhere north of Tokyo, the tourist levels drop suddenly, and the country just opens its arms for you.
The food in Tohoku is also second to none. Kitakata ramen is the best ramen, and I’m prepared to die on this hill.
