Overview

Walk on the Frozen Sea: A Unique Drift Ice Adventure in Shiretoko

Experience the breathtaking beauty of northern Hokkaido at Shiretoko’s frozen seas with our Drift Ice Walking 360° tour. From February to March, the coast of Shiretoko transforms into a mesmerizing icy landscape, creating a rare opportunity to walk on drift ice. Equipped with specialized dry suits, you'll step onto this frozen wonderland and immerse yourself in the untouched Arctic-like scenery.

This seasonal phenomenon plays a crucial role in the local ecosystem, supporting wildlife such as seals and the iconic Steller’s sea eagle. As you traverse the ice, take in the surreal atmosphere and witness firsthand the dynamic nature of the Sea of Okhotsk. If conditions prevent drift ice walking, you’ll enjoy an alternative snowshoeing experience at Furepe Waterfall, where frozen water cascades create a stunning blue ice spectacle.

Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime winter adventure on Japan’s most dramatic coastline.
