Overview
Conquer Hokkaido’s Fuji: a full-day guided ascent of Mt. Yotei with panoramic crater-rim views.
Suggested itinerary
Meet your guide at your accommodation in Kutchan / Hirafu / Niseko. Final gear check, weather briefing, and 20–40-minute transfer to the selected trailhead (Makkari or Kutchan).
Fit packs, adjust poles, and review route markers and pace strategy. Begin the sustained climb through birch and spruce, where roots and switchbacks set an even rhythm.
Your guide plans brief breaks every 60–90 minutes for hydration and snacks. As trees thin, gradients steepen and views widen to the Niseko Range.
Then, the terrain turns volcanic - short, steeper pitches across lava scree. Expect cooler air and wind, layers and gloves often come on here as you make the confident final push toward the crater rim.
Arrive at Mt. Yotei’s 1,898 m rim. If conditions are stable, follow a short section of the rim for different perspectives of the crater bowl and Hokkaido’s plains. Time for photos, food, and rest.
Retrace the ascent route. Poles help protect knees on the sustained downhill. Breaks are made at sheltered spots, while your guide sets a safe, steady pace.
After completing the loop back to the start point, you can stretch and change footwear. Your guide will debrief on timings, elevation, and route highlights.
A private transfer will take you back to your accommodation in Kutchan / Hirafu / Niseko. Your guide can suggest well-earned dinner spots and onsen options.
