Márton Szilágyi

Tour leader

I spent the first five years of my life in Iraq, and perhaps this is where my passion for living abroad, travelling and discovering other cultures began. I have been working as a tour guide since 2002, and in my free time I enjoy exploring new places, exhibitions and museums.

About me

I spent the first five years of my life in Iraq, in the Middle East. Perhaps these early experiences laid the foundations for my passion for living abroad and travelling, which has stayed with me ever since.

I graduated from ELTE in 2002 with a degree in Arabic Studies and began my career at a travel agency. After qualifying as a tour guide, I started working as a local guide and soon went on to lead groups to a variety of destinations.

My work takes me mainly to the Middle East and other parts of Asia, as well as North Africa and Western Europe, although I have also travelled to North America. I haven’t yet had the opportunity to discover Japan, but it has long held a prominent place on my travel wish list, and I am always pleased to broaden my knowledge and experience of Asia.

For me, travel is not only a profession, but also a personal passion: in my free time, I enjoy discovering new places both in Hungary and abroad. I am particularly fond of hiking, swimming, cycling and skiing. Whenever I have the chance, I also visit exhibitions and museums, although I am equally happy at home with a good book or film.
