Itinerary
You'll meet the group and tour leader in front of Kyoto Station Hachijo Exit and walk to Kyoto Station. On the JR Rapid/local train you leave towards Saga-Arashiyama Station.
The Bamboo Grove is the green lungs of Arashiyama. Enjoy the sunlight falling through the leaves of thousands of bamboos and hear the atmospheric sounds of the wind rustling through the bamboo leaves.
After the Bamboo Grove, you will visit the Tenryu-ji temple. Tenryu-ji is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site and a Special Place of Scenic Beauty, and it is one of the five great Zen temples of Kyoto. Built in 1339, the temple was a dedication to the emperor of the time, Go-Daigo. Take a stroll around the temple complex, and enjoy the beautiful surrounding gardens, streams, and pond.
After strolling around Arashiyama, you will head back to Kyoto Station together, where the excursion ends.
