Overview

Explore Mt. Fuji and its surroundings on this day-long adventure.

Mt. Fuji is Japan's most unforgettable icon; it's also a UNESCO World Heritage recognized landmark and the highest mountain in Japan. Sitting about 100 km southwest of Tokyo, the still-active volcano serves as a popular climbing location throughout summer for Japanese and international adventurers.

This tour takes you to Fuji's 5th station, a popular departure point for climbers. Soak up scenic mountain views, and after, enjoy a relaxing cruise through Lake Ashi, one of the five lakes surrounding Mount Fuji. You will then ride the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway, an aerial lift line where you can witness the famous fumaroles of the volcanic zone.

The tour starts at Shinjuku Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo Main Tower, 3F, JTB Sunrise Tours Sales Office. Please arrive at the meeting spot 10 minutes before departure; you'll get on the tour bus from there.

You will be dropped off at the 5th Station climbing track, which is the departure of the four main trails to climb to the summit. At 2,300 meters (7,546 feet) above sea level, this spot offers magnificent panoramic views of the surrounding area. The tour spends about 30 minutes at this location so use this time to look at the beautiful landscape above the clouds, buy souvenirs and food.

Enjoy a Japanese-style meal for lunch.

After lunch, the bus will drive you to Kojiri Terminal. From there, it's time to take the Lake Ashi Cruise to Hakone-en (15 minutes). With clear skies, you will also be able to enjoy the spectacular view of Mt. Fuji. Lake Ashi is situated along the southwest wall of the caldera of Mt. Hakone; it's actually a crater lake, the result of a powerful volcanic eruption nearly 3,000 years ago.

You'll then use the Komagatake Ropeway (a 7-minute ride) to the peak of Mt. Komagatake (50 minutes). Walk around the peak and discover the Hakone Shrine Mototsumiya, the original Hakone Shrine. At the peak, you'll also be able to view the natural marvels of the volcanic fumaroles. The tour ends with an unforgettable panoramic view of Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji.

The guide will bring you to your platform at Odawara Station. Please feel free to ask the guide any queries you have travelling back to your hotel from Tokyo Station.
