Discover the most picturesque neighbourhoods in Gion and Higashiyama.
This scenic bike tour brings you to the most picturesque neighbourhoods in Kyoto's eastern Gion and Higashiyama district. Highlights include Miyagawacho Geisha Quarter, Yasaka and Heian Shrine.
Get your bike and meet your English-speaking tour leader at Kyoto's New Miyako hotel Hachijo.
Soak up the atmosphere as you cycle through narrow streets, beautiful wide avenues, and scenic rivers.
You'll then head to Kyoto's eastern Gion area, Kyoto's most famous geisha district. Here you'll visit the 1350-year-old Yasaka Jinja Shrine, home to the famous summer festival, the Gion Matsuri. Along the way, you'll also stop by Heian Shrine. This shrine was built on the occasion of the 1100th anniversary of Kyoto.
Next, it's off to the Higashiyama district, where you'll stroll through streets filled with traditional tea houses, shops and restaurants. If it's spring, it's a great chance to admire the cherry blossom trees along the river.
